Font - For context I meet my (23) bf(24) when we were Housemates in college. We currently are living in America where he is from. I am irish. I have been living with BF for 5 years now. Last year I 'rescued' a beautiful spaniel puppy - Púca after her mother had been in an accident. Her old family weren't equipped to take care of a 3 week old puppy so we took her in.

Puca is clearly OP's pride and joy! And it says a lot about OP's character that she was willing to step up in such circumstances.

Font - Unfortunately when she was 7 months old a family member of mine was in a serious accident and passed away. I decided to take the risk and fly home for the funeral. My BF decided to come with me and his parents agreed to take in Púca. Of course covid got to us and we ended up being gone for just over a month instead of a week. When we got back we went straight to his parents house to collect our dog but I knew straight away something was wrong. The dog they had wasn't mine (looked identica

If you read nothing else from this thread, you must read this part. It pretty much summarizes everything.

Font - week. When we got back we went straight to his parents house to collect our dog but I knew straight away something was wrong. The dog they had wasn't mine (looked identical but was missing identifying marks). I lost my cool and started yelling at them but they denied everything and said I was just stressed and tired. After a very heated argument his parents reveled that my dog was just too much work and they traded her in for a "better trained one" I was pisses and of told them to give me

Font - Now here's where I might be the AH. Last week (2.5 months after the fight) I got a call from a vet saying they had a dog that was registered to me. Apparently the family who took her in didn't know anything. They were devastated but agreed she was my dog (especially after seeing how she reacted to me) and gave her back. Now Púca is fine. She had a fantastic time with a loving family when she was gone but I'm still pissed. I feel like I can't trust my bfs parents anymore and fell like this

Font - Master-Manipulation · 7 days ago Supreme Court Just-ass [112] NTA Legally speaking, a dog is considered property. They gave your property away to someone else. You and probably that family who didn't know can sue 12.5k Reply Share •..

It was emotional trauma for the dog and a lie to you. 2.6k Reply Share •.. notmypuppy OP · 7 days ago We aren't planning on asking for much specially now that we got her back. It's more so just so they'll take us seriously. 1.5k 3 Reply Share •..

Font - ThrowAwayCatBalloon · 7 days ago Asshole Enthusiast [9] Honestly, NTA. they were supposed to care for your animal, not sell and replace it because they didn't like how it behaved. I agree with other users, if you withdrawal, it shows them that what they did was okay. and it wasn't. 1.3k Reply Share ..

Organism - notmypuppy OP · 7 days ago The only reason his parents replaced her was because she hadn't been trained on recall and was not great walking off leash. I had wondered at first if she was running wild on them but Púcas Foster family said she was a star. Was house trained, would sit and stay didn't beg (unless it was for chicken which to be fair so probably would steal of your plate). She could dance and she could give High fives (up high and down low struggled with on the side)

Rectangle - pizzakido · 7 days ago NTA- I'm so glad you were reunited with your pup <3 but what they did is so horrible, you do you friend. I hope you are able to have a conversation with your bf about setting boundaries with his parents for the future
