We really could hardly believe the words that we were reading as we worked our way through this meaty Reddit thread. The original poster of this thread shares a doggo with her boyfriend/long-term partner. The doggo is obviously, the light of her life, and with good reason (doggo is doggo). So when she and her boyfriend travel for a funeral, they return a month later after sickness led to unexpected delays.
And of course, their first stop upon arrival home is to the in-laws to pick up the pooch. And that is when OP notices something is very very wrong with the situation. Though the dog at her in-law's house looks like her dog, Puca, he is not. The rents pulled a dirty trick. Very dirty indeed. Let's dive into all the details. Fasten your seatbelts folks, this one's a wild ride.
"Last year I 'rescued' a beautiful spaniel puppy - Púca after her mother had been in an accident. Her old family weren't equipped to take care of a 3 week old puppy so we took her in."
Puca is clearly OP's pride and joy! And it says a lot about OP's character that she was willing to step up in such circumstances.
"When we got back we went straight to his parents house to collect our dog but I knew straight away something was wrong. The dog they had wasn't mine (looked identical but was missing identifying marks)."
If you read nothing else from this thread, you must read this part. It pretty much summarizes everything.
