Unless you're a senior citizen yourself, or you spend a lot of time with them, it can be hard to imagine what it is that retirees actually do all day. On paper, the idea of leaving behind the world of work to do whatever we want with our time is a dream come true for many. In reality, it means finding a way to occupy all those waking hours without going insane.
You might think that there's only so much gardening, games of bridge, or struggling to understand Facebook that one person can do before things start to get kind of repetitive, and you would probably be right. As far as having an entertaining social life goes, not every old person wants to be confined to a knitting circle.
Having fun when you're older definitely doesn't have to conform to the stereotype, but taking up an interest in pole dancing is perhaps at the more unexpected end of the scale. Nonetheless, that was the case for an audience who watched @embla.pole perform, as she documented her visit at a senior center.
Showing how eager everyone was to get involved in the action and even revealing that she ended up signing autographs, there's no doubt that her performance went down a treat. If it proves anything, it's that life doesn't have to get boring once we enter our twilight years.
