Season two of the hit Shondaland series gave us the same elaborate dresses, headpieces, and jewels that created the Regency-core trend after season 1 but, with a higher budget this season, Caneles was about to go even bigger, better, and more colorful. With new main characters came new personalities cultures and storylines for Caneles to play off of, Keeping the style of the show fresh and relevant. From lux ball scenes to rugged horse races in the park this season is pure eye candy. Here are 5 facts about the costumes of Bridgerton season 2 you probably didn't know about.
Season one focused on creating a fresh and modern spin of the regency style but season 2 took it one step further. Similar to the musical renditions in the show, Costume designer Sophie Canale didn't stress the historical accuracy too much when creating the Bridgerton season 2 wardrobe. She made the characters look even more modern this season by styling their wigs a little more 2022, keeping their bangs longer and sideburns shorter. She also used more relevant brocade, accessories, and color palettes.
Canale shared in an interview with Harper's Bazaar that they created over 700 costumes for season 2 of Bridgerton. Having an in-house team of Over 120 designers including milliners, pattern makers, embroiderers, dyers, and tailors. She expressed that each costume has a hat or hairpieces, jewelry, embroidered gloves, and shoes that are all dyed to match the dresses. So it's not only dresses that this incredible team created, it's an entire collection with thousands of pieces.
Canales expressed in interviews with the press that she wanted to represent the Sharma Family's Indian heritage while still staying true to the regency style. They used Indian textiles and cultural embroidery in the dresses and also created Indian-inspired jewelry for the Sharma family to wear.

We really see this in the Featheringtons signature orange color palette, but they aren't the only family that sticks to a specific vibe. The Sharmas wear jewel tones to bring focus to their heritage, and the Bridgertons wear classic and luxurious silver and blues. Canales even stated "The Bridgertons tend to be in silver. For the Featheringtons, it's gold. And for the Sharmas, it's rose gold."
Regency-core will be a big trend in the upcoming seasons, are we even surprised? The cast of Bridgerton made outdated styles look cool and relevant again. Although I doubt we will be seeing empire waist silk gowns walking down the streets, I do think we can expect to see some regency-inspired accessories like hair clips hats, and jeweled necklaces. I also believe detailing such as embroidery, and brocade will be making a comeback in the near future.
