There are still times, even in this day and age, when we hear people say that cats are not good pets. People say that cats are cold, that they don't do anything, that they don't love their humans, don't show them affection - that it's better to just get a dog. But, as cat owners, we know better. We know that cats show affection to their humans all the time. We know that cats provide comfort to their humans when they need it. We know that cats are not really cold, it's just that some cats show kindness to their humans in unexpected ways. That does not mean that they are bad pets, and it doesn't mean that they are unfeeling.
The story of this boy proves just that. He's autistic and has been volunteering in a shelter, helping cats get adopted for years. His mom shared his story on Reddit and went viral for it, and we think it happened for good reason. Of all the things to go viral this week, this one is so wholesome and heartwarming that we think it should be shared with many, many more people.
Honestly, we cannot even imagine how much good volunteering in this shelter has done for this boy (and for all the cats he helped socialize over the years). We think that this is such a lovely way to not only help your son but the community as well. Thank you so much for sharing his story.
And thank you for sharing these pictures as well. It's so good to see him interacting with these cats - and with so many of them too! Clearly, they love him and trust him as well, climbing all over him like this. We wish you guys all the very best and hope that you continue to share more!
