For those of you who live in or have lived in cities, you know it's pretty tight quarters and you know all of your neighbors' business, just like they know yours. Walls are thin, yards are nonexistent and forget about finding parking. So it can be extremely frustrating when you are met constantly by the barking of neighboring doggos. We are all about letting doggos be doggos and enjoying playful banter, but if the doggo is sitting outside alone in the backyard at all times barking incoherently and nonstop, there is likely a greater issue at play here.
Day and night this dog barked as if to scream "get me the heck out of this place." The noise became constant, and OP values his peace and quiet, also there is some serious concern here as to how the doggo is being treated. Why is he always outside barkin' huh? OP decided to get a little creative, listen to this:
"I bought a dog whistle, and the past few days, every time the dog goes outside and barks its head off, I open my window and blow the whistle in its direction. It goes nuts, and often just storms off back inside. My neighbour caught me doing this and shouts at me demanding that I stop, but I refuse to. I told her if she can't train her dog then I'll do it myself. I am breaking no laws as nobody is being harmed, so I am completely protected." Via u/isaacismyboytoy.
We say OP is definitely not the a-hole here. The irresponsible doggo owner is absolutely to blame! What do you guys think?
"A few weeks into peacefully living there, my neighbour began leaving her backdoor open, where her miniature schnauzer goes out at random intervals of the day to bark at basically everything that passes their property. I don't know if this is a new thing or if I just somehow didn't notice before, but I there is no way I'm unnoticing it now. It's surrounded on 3 sides by a tiny fence barely tall enough to reach my knees, so this dog sees, and barks at, basically everything all day every day. It's been going on as late as 2AM which is beyond acceptable."
Oy va voy.
"I've been around several times to ask her to please stop her dogs from barking so much as it's affecting my sleep and always get some dismissive excuse like "i'll take her in soon", which never happens. I have crazy amounts of misophonia, and I have ADHD and Aspergers too so my ability to get over this or filter it out is abysmal."
