The shellfish section of any well-stocked grocery store is a fascinating phenomenon. In the society we live in today, most of us are far removed from the realities of how our food travels from farm or factory to our kitchen cupboards, but that tank sat at the end of the fish counter lays down the facts more than any other part of the food shopping experience. Those plucky little crustaceans are just hanging out, waiting for someone to stick 'em into a boiling pot.
Regardless of where you stand on the topic of animal welfare, the whole thing is a world apart from sticking a pre-packaged steak in your cart. They might be reared especially for us to eat, but there are more than a few idealists out there who dream of giving some of them a better life.
Among them is @_jenimejia_, who took matters into her own hands when she found an escaped crawfish wandering around in her local H-E-B. After an employee told her she could keep it, she decided to take it home and place it in her own aquarium. Viewers were a little worried for the fate of the fish that shared a tank with it, but so far, things seem good. This guy doesn't know how good he's got it.
