The word 'selfie' entered the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013 and reflected how widespread the phenomenon of taking your photo has become. The social pressure of posting selfies to keep up an online image may be adding to the already high-stress levels many of us experience. Some researchers have even coined the term "selfitis," to bring attention to what they believe is an emerging mental health concern.
Let's face it. Since the inception of social media, many people have become hopelessly obsessed with their online appearance. This became even MORE evident with the inception of dating apps, where everyone and their mother is posting selfie after selfie. But there's a fine line between commemorating how hot you look one day and being a straight-up selfie addict. We have teamed up with dating blog The Single Society to share the eight reasons why you should avoid dating avid selfie-takers so you will have a greater chance of actually finding a meaningful relationship with a caring partner. Have you ever gone on a date with someone who was hopelessly obsessed with selfies to the point you couldn't take it? Please share that story right here. We would greatly appreciate it. Happy swiping!
