Out of all the most famous European countries, Germany is probably one of the least known for its cuisine. Those who do investigate it will often get as far as the concept of currywurst and either decide that it is the best invention ever created or that this was quite enough culinary exploration for one day. This isn't to say there isn't good German food out there: much like other overlooked or frequently maligned national cuisines (looking at you, UK) there is always something tasty to be found if you look hard enough.
However, not everyone shares in this belief, which makes it confusing when a convincing, food-related trolling attempt comes along. This was the case with a promotional campaign run by German Burger King recently, which had a number of Twitter users scratching their heads. Consisting of some menu items that involved seriously strange flavor combinations, there were plenty of jokes to be had — but it would appear that they can't be ordered in most restaurants, as they were dreamt up to raise awareness for pregnancy cravings on mother's day, and could only be found at one location in Berlin on the day. The internet has seen its fair share of gross food, but it has to be said that these examples put up a fair fight against anything else that we've ever struggled not to gag at. God knows, pregnancy is hard enough without the opportunity to eat a burger with ice cream in it.
