Cats are wonderfully independent. That's one of the things that cat owners love about cats - they do what they want when they want, and all you have to do is give them foods and cleans their poops every once in a while. Cats can handle themselves very well - at home and outside. But stray cats know that indoor cats are spoiled as heck, and sometimes, they decide 'to heck with independence, we wanna get pampered', and that means that it's time for those cats to adopt their humans.
There is nothing we love quite as much as stories of cats adopting humans. They are always so dramatic somehow. Like when a street cat followed a human for a whole year then decided to adopt her herself, or when a kitten decided it's done with outdoor life and sat on a driveway of a home until she got adopted, or when a kitten got rescued from a tree and decided to adopt the couple who saved her. They choose us, and we have no choice but to let them, that's just how things work, and the kitty in this thread knew that very well when he chose his humans.
"This is Farnog, or at least that's what we call him. About a week ago we noticed an odd car turn up on our property, turn around, and leave. A week later this lovely fella stumbled onto our porch looking beaten and hungry."
"We've settled him in and got him warmed up and out of the rain with our other kitty. He seems to be doing well but we want to take him to a vet."
"Our neighbors cat took a clip out of his ear, and he is not fixed, nor do we know how old he is."
"The vet checkup and fixing would be about $160. Rehoming isn't a likely option as most people want barn cats, something Farnog isn't cut out for as he can't hunt and is actually afraid of most toys. We won't take him to a shelter as our nearest no kill that won't put him down right away is a across state lines and several hours. He's settled in with our other cat George. We can afford to keep him but having just moved we don't have enough for the vet atm. Any help is appreciated and I'll send you a pic of Farnog and when we are able to get him to the vet I'll post an update.
"This was Farnog when we first brought him inside, bloody with tics, beaten up by the neighbors barn cat and screaming on the porch and to be let in on a cold rainy night…"
"With a lot of love, pats, and some help from donations, we've got him deticked, bathed, loved, fed, and dewormed. He sleeps his days away in a comfy bed or looking out the window"
"He's got quite the personality and it continues to grow everyday, we adore him and our other cat and him play quite often with each other"
"We hope he stays with us a very long time and we can see more of his silly antics"
