As a bartender, it is your right—nah, your duty!—to put entitled customers back in their place and not play their frustrating immature game. However, you should always be SURE that they are truly just being privileged spoiled folk and haven't actually been the victim of a real mistake you've made…

Being a bartender is never easy, especially in a big city. Comedian Emily Wilson shared a story recently of when she used to bartend brunch in Manhattan. Brunch is already a difficult shift, because you have to usually wake up early on the weekends, deal with people who are getting way too drunk way too early, and it's usually the more privileged crowd who attends brunch in the West Village. So Wilson was always ready to stand up for herself and her coworkers if a customer was to get out of line. That's part of the duty of a bartender, you have the safe space of behind the bar, and customers have to come up to you, so you have more time to build up confidence and a place to retreat to.
So when one of the waiters Wilson was working with came to her with a customer complaint about the orange juice she used for their mimosa, she was not about to let it slide. She made sure to let the customers know exactly what she felt about that and even empowered the server to also do so. However, it was unfortunate timing, because this time, the customer was actually in the right…
Eggs and orange juice are the same color, so it truly is an honest mistake. Her embarrassment with how she reacted to the customers was a seriously blow to her ego, however. Other bartenders who hear this story say that they two have confused the eggs from the orange juice before, because they put them in the same container and them just write really small “eggs” or “orange juice.” So if you're coming to work early all groggy and unenthused to deal with the brutal brunch crowd, it's an easy mistake to make. Wilson says that it was only the last container that she realized was actually eggs and not orange juice, so she is pretty sure she was using orange juice for at least most of her shift—she isn't 100% sure thought. “We'll never know!” she says in the comment section. It's not usual that the customers are actually in the right, but this proves that it is possible…
