This TikTok, which was posted by @moneywithmark and reposted on Instagram via @humorous_resources, explains a whole new phenomenon that many of you quiet quitters out there probably haven't heard of: “quiet promotions.” If I'm correct in assuming you don't know what that is, keep scrolling below to brush up on this brand new vocabulary.
So, if you haven't been able to tell already because you can't decipher tone, a “quiet promotion” is a joke. It's not a trend. It's not a fad. It's basically what has been existing within corporate culture as long as corporate culture has been alive and well. A “quiet promotion” is what happens when your managers and supervisors give you more and more responsibilities, more and more duties to complete, more and more tasks to get done, yet your role and your title and your pay don't change at all. You're just working overtime and trying to get more done within the same time constraints, but you're getting no reward for that extra work.
It goes to show that quiet quitting is easier said than done. We're still conditioned to go the extra mile. It's easy to say you're setting boundaries, but to actually set them without fear of punishment is way harder than it seems. So, this one goes out to the quietly promoted and to the folks who want to take on less but find themselves in a pickle. Schedule your one-on-ones and start practicing advocating for yourself, as stressful as it may be. For more content like this, check out these top trending quiet quitting jokes.
