    The First Bit Of Context

Font - I (37M) am single, childfree and have two dogs (German Shepherd mixes). They are very well behaved and super nice, my niblings (aged 2-13) love them. I have 4 sisters and they have 10 kids total, so I babysit A LOT. I work from home and am pretty much always available to watch the older ones (since I can easily work while they are in my appartment) and when they need care for the little ones, I just move my schedule around a bit. Yesterday 4 of my niblings were at my place (ages 3, 5, 7 a

Ok first and foremost, we will absolutely be stealing niblings to mean nieces and nephews that you treat like your little siblings. Second of all, this rule makes a lot of sense. With kids still learning what is and isn't safe, it can be a real danger to animals if they just go about feeding everything they're eating to the dogs willy nilly.

    You Call That An Overreaction?

Font - The 7 and 8yro obviously brought chocolate with them and shared with 3 and 5yro. I was in the kitchen making them drinks, they were in the living room. My dogs were sleeping on the balcony. I came into the living room and there were obviously chocolate crumbs everywhere. I asked who had the chocolate and 7 and 8yro admitted that mom gave it to them and they always have some with them, but usually eat it in secret. When my sister came to pick them up a few hours later, I told her what happ

OP clearly snapped, but we're having a hard time figuring out if this wasn't warranted. After all, the sister did force the kids to break OP's one rule for the house. And, it's apparently been going on for a while! With all of that under consideration, this hardly seems like an overreaction in our books.

    Trust Is Long, Long Gone

Font - UnicornBoned 7 days ago edited 6 days ago 1. They're teaching the children to devalue life. Which is gross. 2. They're teaching the children to lie and go behind backs, which is also gross, and dangerous. Mom: "Are their parents going to be home?" Kids: "Yeah, mom. They're making us dinner and everything!" 3. They're teaching the children that rules don't apply to them. That what they want matters more than another persons' boundaries and comfort in that persons' own home while doing them

Not A Very Strict Household All Things Considered

Font - 91 JoBenSab 7 days ago Asshole Enthusiast [6] NTA. You have one simple rule and she broke it and made her kids hide it! They also clearly aren't big enough to not make a chocolate mess since there were crumbs on your floor. 8.5k Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow

The Rules Actually Make Sense, Too

Rectangle - RedditDK2 7 days ago Pooperintendant [65] NTA. Obviously they are not old enough to not make a mess. Your dogs could easily have eaten those crumbs. It is fine for you to have rules. Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow 3.0k

    The VERY Blatant Disrespect

Font - DynkoFromTheNorth 7 days ago Asshole Aficionado [11] It's not even necessarily putting your dogs above those kids. It's got more to do with the blatant disrespect of your rules and boundaries. I take it you do the babysitting for free? Then the least they could do is not go behind your back. NTA. Stick to your guns. This is your hill to die on. 2.6k Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow Dogloverforeverr OP 7 days ago I babysit for free yes 1.3k Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follo
