We're not really allowed to parent other people's kids. But, it can be really tempting. If yelling at other people's kids was acceptable, the grocery store would be a more pleasant place.
But, the lines become a bit blurred if you're dating someone with a kid. How much are you allowed to discipline a kid that isn't yours, but you're still generally a parental figure too? In today's Am I The A$$hole post, OP basically yelled at his girlfriend's son. When she said that it was unacceptable and that he needed to apologize to her son, his apology contained a "but". We all know that the "but" of an apology generally erases the first part, as the "but" is justifying their reason for doing something. Read below for some more context on this situation.
