New Yorker Generates Mixed Reactions Trying To Save Injured City Rat

Animals: there can be a lot more to them than we give them credit for, but it's not something that everyone is willing to see. This is something that becomes even more complicated when we talk about those deemed to be pests, because even the most dedicated animal lover has been conditioned to see them as a nuisance.

However, @ahuang30 is one person who has made the effort to try and deviate from this trend. After one of her co-workers found a wild rat that appeared to be injured, she made it her mission to do everything in her power to save him. Taking the creature into her home and sending it to multiple vets, some were touched by the amount of effort she was putting in — but there were plenty of others who were more than a little skeptical of her unwillingness to put it out of its misery. Nonetheless, the journey carried on.

Despite being taken to six different vets, there was nothing that could be done about its sickness and the animal got euthanized. While the special treatment it received may have been a little controversial, there's no denying the compassion involved. It's probably not going to be extended to the rest of 2 million strong NYC rat population, though.
