Sisters have a unique familial bond that has the strength to preserve through tough times. Yet, those same situations can give birth to bonds between outsiders that create a sisterhood for life.
Two tiny stray kittens arrived at the Richmond Animal Care & Control (RACC) in June by the efforts of two separate concerned citizens. When they arrived, the weeks-old gray and white and gray striped female tabby cats quickly befriended each other, becoming immediately bonded sisters.
Story written by Alex Lemieux.
Crockpot, the gray and white tabby, is a shyer feline. Not much is known about her very short life outdoors, but she has all the hallmarks of a cautious cat. Despite that, she does have a determined curiosity, focusing on each and every noise or movement around her while she observes from the back.
Her adoptive sister, on the other hand, is much the opposite. Butter Bean has enough energy to cover both of them.
The bitty gray striped kitten can hardly stop herself from leaping and jumping over her sister. Butter Bean is no stranger to strangers, introducing herself with her cuddly face that she likes to rub against anything, especially a hand reaching to pet her.
When she's not worrying her sister with affectionate love, Butter Bean likes to swat and bat the various toys in her space. That is until one slips through the doorway, and she has the thrill in her eyes to attempt to jump down and retrieve it. With all the loving caretakers watching over her and her sister, someone is always on hand to give Butter Bean back her cherished playthings.
As playtime ends and they lay down for rest, Crockpot and Butter Bean—who have only known each other as sisters for a few weeks at this point—will curl up together and comfort one another as they fall asleep. They dream of a place where they can learn more about what it means to be sisters.
That dream just turned into a reality, however. After just a few weeks at RACC, they were adopted together to a loving family that's excited to give them the space to thrive.
