Tabby cats have unique personalities and possess quite affectionate and intelligent personalities, yet become cranky when they are not the center of attention. Therefore, they're typically able to end up getting what they want—a whole lot of love. Wild Bill, a two-year-old orange and white tabby cat, is no different.
While a resident at the Richmond SPCA, some of Wild Bill's favorite activities were sitting in the lap of anyone who even attempted to sit in a chair or get down on the floor of his room. Visitors were always taken by Wild Bill's friendly nature and gave him time to fulfill his cuddle needs. When he wasn't receiving celebrity-level attention, Wild Bill was often gulping down every ounce of food he could—even if it wasn't his.
Story written by Alex Lemieux.
Once he was full, Wild Bill always retired to the box he had claimed as his sanctuary. His caretakers even cut some heart-shaped holes into the sides so he could view more of his surroundings, leaving him waiting for that next chance to stalk attention and love. Whenever passersby came to the window of his room, he made sure he checked them out, using his cuteness to coax them into coming inside so he could get some much-needed rubs and pats.
Yet, Wild Bill's soft spot for other feline friends always showed. He knew he needed to give love back to others who had it rough before becoming his roommate.
Recently, Wild Bill had the pleasure of sharing his room with Jeri, a cat who had difficulty meeting new faces. She was not accustomed to everyday cat life, but Wild Bill made sure he showed her the ropes.
Cardboard boxes with window cutouts were sprinkled throughout the room, providing an arena for Wild Bill to perform his set of educational demonstrations for Jeri. He would jump from the top of one of the many boxes onto the ledge where his caretakers placed a pretty lamp, knocking it off. But not to worry, that just meant his loving volunteers would come in, giving Wild Bill a chance to bargain for more pets. It would also give Jeri a chance to be around people who always offered mindful care.
Wild Bill had built a great friendship with Jeri when her new family adopted her. He was sad that he would not be able to show her more of the things he had learned, like how to use an adorable face to get more treats from his caretakers. However, Wild Bill's spirits were lifted when he found out that just before Jeri left, her new family was taking him as well. As Wild Bill and Jeri settle into becoming forever roommates, he will continue to teach her which boxes fit a cat the best and how to nudge their new parents for rewarding sessions of pats and rubs.
