Cats can often be confusing—one moment you think they're enjoying your pets as they purr and press up on you and then a second later they're hissing and swatting their mvrder mittens at you. What is it you want, kitty cat?! I'm just trying to love you! One TikToker says she's discovered a scientific technique that has proven time and time again to work for her to disable your kitty's k!ll drive:
Step 1: You have to touch the belly.
Step 2: Switch to petting the cat.
Step 3: From there, immediately start patting the bum.
Step 4: Pat until the cat turns around to bite you, and then push it over.
Step 5: Kill drive disabled, enjoy giving your kitty belly rubs.
Many TikTokers have been trying the technique with mixed results. Some have had great success in the steps, while others have walked away with injured hands. All for the name of science, though!
This is the original creator of the technique and demonstrates here how it works and is successful. However, in the comments section many are saying it does not work. She says then she requires to do more research and thus needs more cats to pet!
This man attempted the technique and now claims he no longer has a hand.
This seemed to be unsuccessful in the belly rub department, but the cat's kill drive was neutralized for normal pets.
This brave research attempted it on their parent's cat who they claim to be quick to engage kill drive.
This little baby seemed to have their kill drive disabled, but was still trying to bring the urge back. She attempted one small nibble, but quickly changed her mind and switched to kisses.
This cat was an uncooperative participant in the experiment. They will not be receiving payment for their time.
Unsuccessful—but need more younger participants for accurate data.
There appears to have been at least one human participant, perhaps as the control subject? Either way, this technique has so far proved successful on humans.
Science experiments usually have an independent, dependent, and controlled group. I have no idea what this one was for…
This cat had a successful run, however, the participant does note that they get stuck at step three due to the cat loving butt pats…
