Hello, fellow cat people. We hope everyone is having a great day. We recently stumbled upon a Twitter thread where someone tweeted that she believes that older cats should not be bathed unless they're quite literally rolling around in their feces or if, for whatever reason, they're unable to groom themselves. The question of whether one should bathe their cat has been the debate of the century, with both claims for and against.
We've collected a generous amount of samples of all sorts of stories, opinions, and of course, cat pictures. Couldn't forget those, no, never. It seems that mostly, people tend to agree that cats should not receive regular baths. After all, it all comes down to the individual cat's health, hygiene, age, and every other factor that one can think of. What we liked about this thread is that people were open to conversation, discussion, and asking questions. We hope you enjoy your read!
"for the record, i don't agree with bathing adult cats (unless they like literally roll in diarrhea or can't groom or something), cats are self cleaning and bathing them generally does more harm than good…"
We definitely agree that cats are self-bathing but again, it does come down to each cat individually. If one were to say you shouldn't bathe cats as often as you do dogs, that'd be a no brainer.
"Now she's so big I couldn't get her in a bathtub on my own if I tried…"
Don't we know. Our cats hate water a lot. One thing we've learned is to cover their ears so the water doesn't scare them as much.
