The newest Jordan Peele horror/thriller film Nope is cinematically captivating—full of symbolism and uniquely horrifying situations. However, the entire storyline has some viewers a little lost. (WARNING ONCE AGAIN: SPOILERS AHEAD!) The main one being, what in tarnation was that alien thing??
In the film, it is pretty early on when they discover that the alleged UFO they are seeing in the sky is not actually a ship at all, but an entire alien being—like an "animal." As horse trainers, they know how to tame a large beast, and that helped them in dealing with the creature. The scene that has fans trying to guess what exactly this alien creature is based off of is after it gulps up an entire audience. You hear a crunch, you hear people screaming, you see bodies going through something that looks like a bouncy castle but is maybe a throat or stomach. Are people being digested? Why do the screams continue for hours later? Is the creature mimic the screams as a lure? Many question have arose and has also gotten a lot of people to guess where the inspiration for this alien's anatomy came from. The ocean is just as mysterious as space (actually, more mysterious…), so it only makes sense that people are guessing strange creatures of the sea like rare jellyfish, octopuses, sea stars, and more! It's amazing to see exactly how much this alien resembles these ocean dwellers.
