'She was absolutely giddy about it': Sadistic HR person from Hell gossips about upcoming layoffs
Sometimes, what can ruin your Mom's birthday lunch has nothing to do with you or the food. Sometimes, it's the people at the nearby table, whose conversation completely consumes your attention and, therefore, your meal experience.
This was the case for u/Hunter_Este, who posted this thread on Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit about how the birthday lunch he organized for his Mom was completely commandeered by a nearby discussion between a "scum" HR person and her friend. The conversation regarded upcoming layoffs, and the woman from HR was "absolutely giddy" about the opportunity to select who will get fired and to "get back" at the people who allegedly deserve it. She and her friend gossiped about stalking the profiles of all the people she was intending to fire.
People's livelihoods are not part of an episode of reality television. Even if these folks had wronged the HR lady in some way, gaining enjoyment from other people's suffering in the workplace will always backfire. The real victim in this story is u/Hunter_Este's Mom, who deserved a nice lunch without having to hear this nonsense.
This will certainly not be the last time unacceptable workplace drama makes waves. This recent story involved an employee who stood up to his manager after getting in trouble for being a few minutes late just once.
