Listen, we all lie a little during interviews. Many times an interview between you and HR can simply feel like a vibe-check. And to be 100% honest, after being on both sides of the hiring process, I would have to agree that that is almost entirely what it is. No, you don't have e to be liked to do your job well, by no means is that true but you have to be liked to get hired, and probably promoted. The office is full of different dynamics, and if you can someone do the minimal amount of work possible while staying on good terms with everyone around you, then you've unlocked the key to promotion town. But you need to be able to sell it. This task is the most difficult in my humble opinion. For anyone who winces at the idea of humoring a coworker or manager while they go on and on about their weekend, perhaps find a way to make a game of it. Or just take a break directly after for a 'meeting' and just take a gander at these memes.
