"Chicken was born with a little chicken wing front arm. She is the sweetest girl, the light of my life ? and she gets around just fine"

"My boy is a special needs cat. I was fostering him and his siblings. The siblings were adopted out easily, but no one wanted him because he had a partly lame front leg and he was so small. We did all the animal rehab exercises with him and he eventually learned to walk in his own way (just can't turn left). We ended up keeping him ourselves as we just loved him so much. Six years later he is the most beautiful big ginger"

"We took in this guy just before his 14th birthday when my best friend was forced to give him up. He gave us 4 1/2 years of joy before we had to say the last goodbye. After we lost him, we adopted a 7 year old female who had been surrendered. She fits in well with our other 2 cats and we love her so much."

"I was driving down a back road early one cold October morning, when I passed two balls of fluff on the bridge.
I turned around and found two tiny kittens, about four weeks old, shivering in the dirt. They were blind, their eyes crusted shut, snotty noses, crusty ears, fleas and lice. The lice was a new one, hadn't dealt with that before.
I wrapped them in my coat. The male, grey, fought me a bit. Got them home, fixed them a cozy crate and fed them. They wet ravenous, poor things. I fed them gradually because I was afraid of making them sick.
Took them to the vet the next morning. Two hundred bucks later, armed with antibiotics and assorted other meds I took them home.
The next two months they were isolated in my spare bathroom, until the lice were totally vanquished.
It's been three years now and they are sleek and healthy and living the lives of spoiled house cats.
Molly and her brother Mokie. Lucky for them I saw them that day. They wouldn't have made it another day." -

"Edna the OldLadyBaby was surrendered to my vet at 11 years old. Her previous owner wanted her to be euthanized because she had mild seizures and was generally grumpy. We rushed right down and she lived for another 5 years. She loved my children and my husband, but seemed rather annoyed with me. She is definitely my favorite senior rescue"

"Roomba is a 14 year old blind cat that showed up at our house with a nasty bite wound around his neck. We took him to the vet after he lived though the first night. They found a microchip, but the phone number of the folks that adopted him was disconnected. We couldn't find them. So, we cleaned him up and he's been with us for 6 months. He just wants a lap to cuddle in. Or a Barbie bed."

"I'm their 3rd owner (Rescues). They're both around 8 yrs old..although I'll never know for sure. Bubba (L) has Asthma and Shadow (R) has IBS..he hasn't had a solid Bowel movement in the 3 years since I've taken him in (the Vet has tried everything). I'm not turning them in...they're mine until they cross the Rainbow Bridge."

"I've had my sassy pants cat for 6 and a half years now. Adopted her as an adult semi feral rescue. She is still a little witch sometimes, and will randomly attack me (biting and scratching) for no reason (I'll be sitting perfectly still and she will fixate on a limb and suddenly jump and attack) but on the whole is a much happier animal than when I first got her (when the attacks happened every 5 minutes, rather than every few weeks). She will claim my knee, and is gradually also adopting my husband (after almost 4 years together lol) but she still does not like to be petted. Despite bamboozling us/everyone by occasionally doing the forceful head butt/rub herself on you, if you actually reach to pet her, she will swipe lol. Not the easiest personality to live with but that's my gal"

"This is Billy-Bob (Thorntonpuss) ragged looking, bad teeth, skin & bones who wandered into my garage. I brought him inside right away to two meals every day plus a crunchy bowl auto feeder. He has a home now!!"

"We adopted our baby when he was in the sick ward if the shelter. He had been abandoned twice (only 9 months old at this point) because of behaviour issues that the shelter never saw. We saw them within 2 weeks of him being home. 15 years we have had him now because I would not give up on him. Now palliative care kitty but he still loves us and we love him."

"My sweet boy Whiskey was brought to the shelter as a "stray" with a crushed back leg. After many surgeries and an amputation he just sat scared and listless in his cage. I saw him online for adoption and knew he had to come home with me, so I drove the 2 hours to him, adopted him on the spot and he lives a life full of love and adventure!! Missing a leg doesn't slow him down at all!!"
