In August, a woman was walking through a park when they heard high-pitched meowing coming from a trash can. With concern, she walked over to the bin a saw five tiny kittens wiggling around inside, with one screaming and meowing for the other four kittens. She scrambled for a box to place them in and quickly transported them to Lucky Paws.

Lucky Paws founder Chris said a few of the quintet were sick, others malnourished, and some had a bad case of ringworm. It's unknown how long the kittens were in the trash can, but they're all safe and healthy now because of the quick action from the foundation's caregivers.

After they were out of danger, the Lucky Paws team set to give the group a name. Chris explained they called the noisiest kitten "Little Michael" for his vocal ability to coax passersby for help. "He's got brothers and sisters, so we said, 'look, it's the Jackson 5,'" he said. "It came naturally."

Although the Jackson 5 is a name born out of a comical quip, Chris affirmed that Little Michael is credited with saving his siblings. Since they've been in the care of Lucky Paws, Little Michael's four brothers and sisters are very quiet.

Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, Tito, and Little Michael are all up for adoption now. While there's no restriction on splitting up the gang, they will be rehomed in pairs.
