For this week's challenge, we decided to talk about… well, the challenge of having cats. It's not all fun and games, you know. Cats are sneaky, smart, and yes, manipulative creatures, and they have no qualms about turning their intelligence against us - their hoomans. Sometimes, their crimes are overt. Sometimes, their crimes are overt. There have been quite a few times when criminal cats were caught in action as they sneakily stole food from us, for example.
But sometimes, cats are more covert about their crimes. Sometimes, cats are able to outsmart us in hissterical ways, and when they do… well, these smart cats trick us into doing exactly what they want. And once they do it enough times… We asked you guys to tell us about funny things that you have trained your cats to do. Instead, you told us a whole bunch of stories about your cats accidentally - or deliberately - training you guys. We've never read anything funnier. Thank you.
"So I have a funny story about the video of the cat that signs when she wants food. I decided to teach Shiloh to tap her mouth for her treats by putting her paw on her mouth, saying treat, and then giving her a treat. After three days of this she jumped on my lap and started bopping me around the mouth, and mewing. When I didn't respond she started doing it again and again. I finally realized she was doing exactly what I taught her. She has been doing this for about 7 years and I still laugh."
"During a period of time when I had a flare of an old back injury, I attached a piece of clothesline to the laundry basket to avoid lifting it and still be able to get it to the laundry room. This guy decided that it was his Uber. Furthermore, he taught his nephew about the special Uber. That nephew taught his nephew. We've had three generations of Kitty Uber in our home. It started long before Uber was ever conceived!"
"My older cat doesn't really care for human food. One day he just wanted to sniff my food and I let him and he walked away. Now whenever I eat he has to smell my food first."
"My Tiger came to us covered in fleas so I'd pick him up and comb him on the bathroom counter. 8 years and 15lbs later he still jumps up on the counter and expects a combing/brushing. He even sits with his back to me ready."
"Kitsune learned that if she wants me to get up all she has to do is push my water glass off the bedside table. I switched to a bottle with a lid and now she just sits on my face to wake me up."
"If the dogs earned a treat for doing what I asked of them then surely the cats need lots of treats because they don't need to be told what to do (One of 2 cats shown)"
"My cat Kevin is addicted to KFC chicken, and I swear he knows what the bucket looks like. He will jump right up on the chair and wait for his portion of chicken, very impatient as it cools!"
"Accidentally dropped a dollop of whipped cream in the floor beside her. She quickly gobbled it up and now everytime she hears me shake anything like cream in the kitchen she comes sliding in and stands like this until I give her what she is asking for. She also begs for Manzanilla olives too."
