As parents, there's nothing we yearn for more than a healthy, loving, and trusting relationship with our children. And by children, we obviously mean our cats.
If you've ever adopted from a shelter or taken in a stray from the street, you know how hard it can be. If the cat in question has lived through some serious trauma, our guess is that it won't be jumping into your lap from day 1. Nope, instead, you'll have to work on your relationship and build trust. Slowly but surely.
But oh boy is it worth it. If you'll put in the effort and time, it will all pay off. One magical day you'll wake up and realize that your cat finally trusts you. Cats demonstrate trust in all sorts of ways. It could be a gentle paw on your knee or a little love blink. But our personal favorite is when they show us their bellies. That's when we know for sure that they feel safe with us.
