If you ask a cat owner what their cat's name is they'll most likely give you a straight answer. Something simple, something formal like Mr. Mcnoodlekins the third. But if you dig a little deeper and ask them whether they have a nickname for their cat - they won't be able to stop. It's no new phenomenon that pet people, cat people, in particular, love to give thousands of nicknames to their pets. Sometimes, the nickname correlates directly with the actual name, which makes sense. But other times it's something so random, so ridiculous, yet so fitting - you can't help but be amused.
We recently stumbled upon a Twitter thread where someone wrote, "Cat names should evolve like avant-garde jazz. By a cat's 5th birthday the name it's called should have no resemblance to its original name". Our fellow Twitter community did not hesitate to chime in with their own name evolutions plus tons of cat tax. Have a look for yourself, we hope you enjoy!
"Juniper > Juno > Juniper Berry > Juny > Junip > Mip > Mipford > Mipford Christie > Lady Pukesworth Hurl of Vomington"
It's funny because every single one of these seems suitable to her. We have to say though, the last one is our fav.
"Pepper / Pepperpot / Princess Pepperpot / Daughter of Darkness / Empress of Evil. "
Again, each and one of them is so fitting. We think our personal favorite is either Daughter of Darkness or Empress of Evil, such a tough choice.
