Weekly Internet Roundup: Pete Davidson Can't Stop, Polyamorists Are at it Again, and Neighborly Kindness is Evil

Hello again! Welcome to another summary of some of the things that people on the internet have been talking about this week. As usual, it's full of wild revelations, as well as an unhealthy portion of tomfoolery. We might have hoped and prayed for things to calm down for once, but of course they didn't. Anyway, let's get down to the fun stuff.

We Probably Should Have Predicted Pete Davidson and Emrata

Anyone who follows the happenings of celebrity land knows that Pete Davidson is an unstoppable force. This is for one reason alone: he is the female A-lister's accessory of choice. While Ariana Grande may have been the woman who catapulted him to ultra-famous boyfriend material, it was his recent relationship with Kim K that cemented his reputation as a master seducer.

Following his breakup from the iconic Kardashian, it was difficult to imagine him continuing his winning streak. Nonetheless, he managed it. It was reported earlier this week that he was now dating model, actress, and author Emily Ratajkowski. Hot women going through divorce seem to be his type now, and honestly? So long as everyone's happy, more power to them. At least it keeps the memes flowing nicely.

Bhad Bhabie Does a Rachel Dolezal

I can't believe that we've got to the point where 2017 seems like a more innocent time, yet here we are. That's right, Cash Me Ousside was more than five years ago, and Danielle Bregoli has gone through an insane transformation since. Her Bhad Bhabie rebrand has encompassed everything from a rap career to an OnlyFans, and she hasn't stopped making headlines just yet.

Most recently, Bregoli has felt the need to defend herself after posts debuting a new look had people accusing her of blackfishing. While she rushed to show the world her light-colored foundation bottle, the filters she had on her videos seemed to be telling another story. Sadly, the icky trend of trying to look like another ethnicity is not on its way out yet.

Crypto Scammers, Secret Tumblr, and Hareems, Oh My

Cryptocurrency has not been having a great time for a while now. The latest blow it has suffered has been the crash of  FTX.com, which was the third biggest crypto exchange before it filed for bankruptcy this month. Cue the Domino Effect meme: before long, this turned into a discussion about the online prescence of Caroline Ellison, CEO of Alameda Research and possible ex-girlfriend of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

It was discovered that she had a Tumblr blog called worldoptimization, and the opinions it expressed were even more strange than you might expect them to be. Her posts included an attitude towards her polyamory (she considered it to be like an “imperial Chinese harem”), some racism, and how much she loved boys because they controlled most major world governments. Anyway, apologies to the poly community for this representation.

Chili Is a Violation of Consent

It has long been apparent that avid social media users do not like it when people are nice to each other in real life. However, this hysteria reached new and unprecedented levels this week after a load of people on Twitter decided once again that being a good Samaritan is terrible, actually.

It all started when one Twitter user started a thread on her decision to cook a meal for her new neighbors. It wasn't long before strangers started preaching about the myriad of reasons why this sucked. While many jumped to her defense and the story had a happy ending, the whole thing still did damage. It's a strong argument for logging off sometimes, if ever there was one.

Here ends the roundup for this past seven days. No doubt there will be plenty more dumb dramas and memes to digest next week, but let's chew on this in the meantime. Not gonna lie, it's kind of grisly.
