‘Is Your Server a Dog?’ Guy Berates Rude Entitled Customer for Whistling at Hardworking Waitress

I don't know about you, but my hate for humankind stems from the time I was a server in a restaurant. Working in the service industry truly shows you how selfish and rude people can be. Moreover, it's utterly baffling how such disrespectful people can walk around, thinking to themselves ‘Huh, I’m a good person'. So it's really nice to hear about a customer who stood up to another customer because he was acting in a disgraceful manner towards the server at the restaurant. Whistling to get your server's attention is not acceptable. Have some decency, for crying out loud.

Some of the more annoying things that tend to repeat themselves are customers seriously asking the waiter ‘Can you EXPLAIN to me why this dish costs 9 dollars?’. The simple answer? We don't make the prices. But we can tell you this — it costs 9 dollars because another human being had to make the dish, cut the vegetables, arrange and cook it, while another human being had to serve it to you… and the restaurant still has to earn a profit. And that's not considering all the costs the restaurant has to cover regardless (There is a reason so many restaurants don't make it).

There are also those unreasonable customers that ask you to create a dish that isn't on the menu. Let's say you have garlic chicken — and they request Szechuan. They are not the same, people. On every level. If you want a personal chef, hire one. Sure you can change things in a dish. But don't ask for things that bear no resemblance to what we have on the menu. Thanks.

And please, for the love of God… read the menu. Questions about what we have are always welcome but don't begin asking ‘What kind of appetizers do you have?’ when it is clearly on the menu we have placed before you. And lastly… you can ask for all the ketchup you want. But PLEASE, ask for everything you need just one time. When we ask you if you need anything else, don't tell us one thing, then when we run, get it, and come back you ask for another thing, and then again… Some people ask 4 times in a row for things they kept forgetting and honestly the amount of rage it causes… is crazy.

Yet some customers are angels. Seriously, some people are so kind that it makes dealing with the rest of the other garbage worth it. This story is about one such customer. The Reddit user Webster_94 posted his tale on the subreddit TalesFromYourServer, and it warmed our cold little hearts. Scroll down to read what happened… Not all heroes wear capes.

P.S. If you work in customer service and are wistfully thinking about the day you will hand in your two-week notice, these memes are made for you.

The dude has got a point. Honestly, some people. How can anybody seriously consider that whistling at a human being is okay? Read on to see what the commenters had to say about this.
