Tough love, am I right? This mother thought it was a good opportunity to teach her daughter a lesson about holding up her end of bargains by enforcing a verbal agreement from when she was 12 years old. That agreement entailed having the daughter pay her parents back for half of the swimming pool she asked for back in the day.
This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit, and let's just say you know this woman is a true Karen when she's enforcing verbal agreements that involve having her daughter pay her thousands of dollars. If the mom really didn't want the swimming pool in the first place, she should have put her foot down from the beginning and refused to get one, as was her right. To instead use this opportunity to "teach lessons" is more manipulative than educational.
