Font - 3. I am sorry you did not like Hi the space. I did say that I am currently renovating the whole place. We also recently went thru a hurricane that caused some damage so have been trying to catch up. I am a little frustrated that you would give a review that would jeopardize my business as AirBnB can remove my listing if I have a 4 rating. With a 4 rating you are also saying to people that you would not recommend the space. I'm sure you can recognize that the place was nicely cleaned, and

Font - Old WorldBlueslsBest 10h 1 Award reviewing is so worthless it seems like movies are often either way over praised or dragged through the mud (rotten tomatoes) games rarely dip below 7 by critics stores and businesses want 5 stars only just ridiculous. do people know 3 stars is average? that a 6 out of 10 is above average? for some reason if something isnt praised to the highest degree it must be terrible to some people 43.4k ...

Font - ThisVicariousLife +1.5h It comes down to algorithms. It's the digital world we live in now. It's not about logic anymore. Like the person above you said: review culture at its finest. The internet has added many wonderful conveniences to our lives, but I'll be damned if it hasn't made people more ridiculous and pedantic than ever before.

Font - 4 out of 5 is great! That's still recommending the place. Even 3 is not saying, "Don't stay there." This sounds more like a problem with AirBnB expecting perfection when humans (who rate) are not perfect. They can be mean, vindictive, or simply just in a bad mood. ... 445 445

Font - the Orthopaedicsurgeo 10h . Exactly - it'd be like going to a restaurant and they bring out your food uncooked and say "no but it will be so much nicer when it's actually cooked for the next person". You rented out a building site (likely at full price) so that you wouldn't lose money, you can't complain when people point out that it was a building site, and especially when they still give your hurricane-damaged home 4 stars. ... 140 140

Font - Barfignugen. 13h We rented one for a wedding last month that listed "lakefront view" as a feature. We were there for two days and not once did I view the lake. I couldn't even tell which direction it was in. 41.8k

Font - lotanis 10h Seems to be worse in the US than the UK. I've had some good accommodation places where hotels either don't exist or are very expensive. And they don't seem to come with silly rules or expect you to do all the cleaning. Plus our rules on advertising mean that when you're looking at the set of options (E.g. all the prices on the map) those prices have to include all the fees and everything. 141

Font - GreyGhost878 When I look at reviews I figure there will always be some disgruntled customers angry about BS. Have you commented on their review stating what you said here? I always read the owner responses to find out the real story. And I'll always consider a 4 star or higher business a good one. +2.13h 515

Font - CaptainKate757 To me, reading the negative reviews is more important than reading the positive ones. You get a better idea of whether the criticism is valid or not. So many people leave reviews like "they wouldn't let me bring my emotional support crocodile into the pool with me. 1/5 stars, won't be returning to this water park." • 9h 4157

Font - You don't want to lose a star over hurricane damage, then don't list a property that has hurricane damage. I'll bet this hurricane damaged property wasn't being listed at a deep discount; I'll bet it cost just as much as places with no hurricane damage. Did the listing say, "WARNING: PROPERTY HAS HURRICANE DAMAGE?" Did the hurricane leave half-eaten food in the refrigerator?

Font - As an aside, this five-star culture is nonsense. The entire point of a star system is have gradation, but somehow all of these gig apps and aspirational landlord apps have created ecosystems where the stars are effectively turned into thumbs-up and thumbs-down. Maximum stars, thumbs-up. Everything else, literally murdering the landlord with your own two hands. Reply 681

Font - iltopop. 3h apps have created ecosystems where the stars are effectively turned into thumbs-up and thumbs-down. It's worst than that, on Uber if you're at 4.6 you're "orange" which is a warning that your rating is slipping, if you hit 4.4 you're "red" which means you're very close to having your driver account disabled.
