Scams are everywhere, and some are more straightforward to spot than others. Even elderly people know that Nigerian princes are not to be trusted when they contact them over email. There are a lot of scams in touristy areas that can be avoided by not engaging with strangers on the street. However, there are some scams that we don't even identify as scams. They take our money, leave us high and dry, and society insists that they're nothing out of the ordinary.
I've always thought that dryer sheets were a scam. I'm sorry, but I'm not buying anything else to help wash my clothes when I already buy detergent. I have never bought dryer sheets for myself, and nothing bad has happened yet. Maybe my hands get shocked by some static electricity every once and a while, but that builds character. Twitter user @nathaliejacoby1 asked her followers, "What's 100% a total scam, but we still accept it in society?" and their answers couldn't be more true.
