Listen, a lot of complaints that people have about zoos are totally valid. And we understand them. But… well, the zoos that don't suck sometimes do some really cool things for their animals, and those things we love to see. Like that one zoo that had a tug of war game between one lioness and 3 professional wrestlers as part of an enrichment program. Guess who won? Or that other zoo that had cheetahs react to a robodog as part of testing and enrichment program. And then, there's that one insane 'reverse zoo' where the humans are in the cages and the lions watch them.
Today… there's this incident. Have you ever heard of a Code Blue in a zoo? Yeah, we hadn't either. Apparently, it means that an animal is on the loose. And the Dallas Zoo apparently, somehow, lost their clouded leopard, and they announced it to the internet in the most cryptic and hilarious way possible.
Don't worry! The leopard is perfectly fine. There's a happy ending. But the way there is certainly funny.
Not gonna lie, when we first saw this tweet - before we read the thread - we were more confused and suspicious than anything. And that seems to be most people's reaction. We don't understand why the zoo was so heckin' cryptic in the way that they announced this, but we're glad they did, because it is so strangely funny.
Our second reaction, as we continued reading this thread, was concern. For the leopard, more than anything, though the employees at the zoo too. We waited with bated breath for days to hear updates about this story, and god but we were so relieved when we heard that the sweet big cat was found and fine.
