It's an unfortunate truth of the world that some people will mistreat their dogs. We literally don't understand how someone could do it, but it's evident by the amount of rescue dogs in the foster system and in shelters that it happens. Luckily, we have our incredible foster warriors, people who are in the top tier of humanity that love a dog that needs a home, and help rehabilitate it so it can live healthily with its forever family.
When "Akaw" got to her foster home, she was too afraid to leave the crate. It took her foster mother weeks to get her to feel comfortable around the house, and even more time to get her comfortable being outside. She did the hard work, patiently (very patiently), and eventually Akaw began to feel more and more social.
SPOILER ALERT: She gets adopted because how could you not with that adorable face of hers. Don't you love a happy ending?
We all know this face and body language when your doggo doesn't want to do something. She's resisting like crazy because she's scared. Who knows what happened to her with her past family, but we love to see that she gets over it and becomes the happy doggo she was always meant to be!
It's a story like this that brings back our faith in humanity. This could not have been an easy process. It must have taken a long time, required a lot of patience, compassion, and understanding, all with a dog that can't actually describe to you what she's feeling. We applaud you, foster warrior!
