'That was a desperate dad, willing to do a bad thing for his child': Man shares heartbreaking story of how he turned getting robbed into helping a father in need

Minerly had recently found out his neighbors just had a baby, so as a gift, he went to Target to get the new parents a gift card. On his walk back to the car at night he was approached from a man out of nowhere. This man asked him if he had any money, and Minerly said he did not and kept on walking to this car. This man followed him and asked him if that was a giftcard in his hand, and he said yes, while still walking away. The man then asked if he could have it and when Minerly said “no” the man's tone changed. He started demanding the giftcard and following him closer and starting to sound more threatening. 

Minerly turned around to confront this guy, and Minerly is not a small dude. He is about 6'5" and was several inches taller than this man trying to rob him. He asked the man if he needed help, and then all of a sudden this man's entire vibe changed. Minerly said that he watched this man's face and it stuck with him for weeks, because behind his eyes Minerly could tell that he was making a very important decision. The man finally said that he just needed some diapers, which Minerly gladly offered to buy for him. 

It didn't hit Minerly until after he was driving away, but that man's vibe changed and he took a while to respond because he was thinking as a father, “do I need to try to attack this man to get this giftcard so I can buy the diapers I need for my child? Or should I take my chances, swallow my pride, and see if this stranger will help me?”

Minerly relays this story holding back tears, and he ends it simply by saying “be kind to each other.” Read and/or watch the entire story below:
