Hey y'all. Today we're featuring a Twitter thread filled to the brim with pictures of adorable cats dozing off to dream land amid epic cat naps. Why do cats sleep so much? Cats have evolved to sleep for long periods throughout the day. Wild cats need to sleep in order to conserve their energy to hunt, chase and kill their next meal. Although our house cats may not need to hunt, the instinct to sleep and prepare for the hunt carries on. Energy conservation is one of the main reasons for your cat's long periods of sleep, which is where the term "cat nap" originates. In addition to deep sleep, cats can doze for brief moments, lasting anywhere from five to thirty minutes, but remain on high alert for predators or prey.
We don't know about you guys, but we could most certainly go for a cat nap right about now. Perhaps even just 30 minutes, just allow us to rest our eyes… MEOW. Sike. There will be no napping here, not until our cats are fed, entertained, and relaxed.
