A server in Denver, Co. was put into that predicament and had to make the decision: Should she intervene and stand up for her own values, or should she just mind her own business? You better believe she outed that cheater as and as slyly as possible.
The table she was serving was a couple out for the 3-year anniversary. The girlfriend was very sweet and respectful with the server, but the boyfriend was rude and glued to his cellphone. The server could tell this was embarrassing the girlfriend, so she casually took a quick glance at the man's phone. She saw him messaging other girls on Tinder and on the app Whisper looking for a “quick hook up in the area.”
She went to her coworkers to deliberate what she should do, but she decided to take a casual yet effective route. She went back to the table, asked them the usual server questions like “how is your food," “do you need anything else," etc. Once the boyfriend ignored her again, she peppered in, “oh is that Whisper?” and talked about how she used to us it and bla bla bla, keeping it very casual. With that, the girlfriend erupted, and ultimately dumped him right then and there.
She comped the girlfriend's (now ex-girlfriend) tab and even gave her a bottle of champagne to take home. Meanwhile, she made sure to charge the cheating boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend) the $2.50 for the Coca-Cola he ordered. He paid her just that, and left. The girlfriend was so appreciative she made sure to the server got a nice tip.
