This tenant allegedly received a message from their landlord informing them that the landlord would be carrying out work on their driveway on Christmas morning. The tenant writes that the landlord had “been promising a concrete driveway for two years” and finally followed the promise by scheduling it for Christmas morning.
In their message, the landlord claims that it is “most likely” the tenant will be going to someone else's house for the holiday, seemingly thinking that this automatically makes it an acceptable time to schedule the work to be done.
The landlord's messages were posted by the tenant to Reddit's r/mildlyinfuriating subreddit, where they went viral, earning 61.7k upvotes in the short time since their posting. Readers were shocked, outraged, and surprised that the landlord had even managed to find someone willing to do the work on Christmas morning. They theorized that this in itself was a red flag and made it likely that the contractor was either going to do poor work or did not, in fact, actually exist at all and that this was an attempt by the landlord to go away with the entire promise by blaming the tenant for objecting.
