Are you familiar with the concept of seasoning cast iron cookware? The intention behind the process, which is essentially baking oil into the cookware, is to make it a nonstick surface and to help protect it from rusting. People are pretty intense about their cast iron, which probably explains all the memes against washing the cookware in a dishwasher or (gasp!) using soap. Contrary to what some may believe or tout on the Internet, it's OK to use a little soap on cast iron, as long as you replenish that sweet, sweet oil.
Seasoning, as useful as it is, is not something that applies to all cookware, or dishware. For the rest of our kitchen vessels and tools, a good washing is absolutely necessary. This past week we were introduced to someone who is woefully unaware of this fact. The @f*ckedupfoods account shared a screen capture of a post from said gentleman, in which he earnestly explains he has a bowl specifically for ramen - and that he never washes it. In the disturbing post, he compares the practice to seasoning a cast iron, and says that he likes the leftover flavors.
Gag.
As cringey and unsanitary food practices go, this one really takes the cake. The post, obviously, went viral, with Twitter users sharing their shock and horror at the dirty bowl and its owner. We enjoy the solidarity, but mostly we just hope this guy doesn't get sick.
