High school drama is often seen as something that people grow out of. However, for some people, the drama that they experienced in high school follows them into adulthood. This can be due to a number of factors, including unresolved issues from their teenage years, a lack of maturity, and a continued need for attention. Whatever the reason, high school drama can have a negative impact on a person's life, making it difficult to maintain relationships and causing unnecessary stress. If you find yourself still dealing with high school drama, it may be time to seek help from a professional.
In today's Am I The A$$hole, one man found out the hard way that high school drama can follow you even two decades later.
OP and his wife are both career-oriented, and when he was offered a promotion that would mean no more working from home, they agreed to hire a nanny. After being on the waiting list for a substantial amount of time, there was finally a match for their place of residence, but during the interview, both the wife and the nanny were visibly awkward. When they were alone, the wife disclosed that the nanny had cheated with her high school boyfriend.
Many users claimed OP was being deliberately oblivious when he claimed that, after talking it through, they both agreed to hire the nanny as she was a good fit.
Fast forward to a few weeks later, and OP's children are begging him to fire the "evil nanny" who wants to hurt their mother. As it seems, OP's wife had a change of heart, and instead of communicating her issue, was poisoning the kids against the nanny with hopes their dad would hurry to fire her, when he said they would once they have a replacement, his wife accused him of choosing the nanny over her.
There is so much to say about this, but returning to our opening statement - if you find yourself still dealing with high school drama from almost twenty years ago, it may be time to seek help from a professional (we're talking to you, OP's wife).
