We thought it was a universal experience for cat owners - hating going to the vet with their cats. Not because we don't like it, but because we hate seeing our cats be spooked! For us, going to the vet with our cat is a hilarious experience… or a horrific one, but never a calm experience. Our cat spends the meeting trying to hide from the vet by climbing right onto our backs. But it turns out that cats have various reactions to going to the vet, not just awful ones.
Heck, some cats - apparently - love going to the vet so much that they can't stop purring. And not only that, but those cats purr so loudly and consistently that the vets actually cannot get an accurate read of their heartrate? Who knew that was even possible? Unbelievable.
Meanwhile, for us, going to the vet with our cat means coming back home with about fifteen new scratches and also about fifteen years of our lives lost to anxiety. And also with about 1,500 fewer dollars in our bank account because it turns out that our cat was constipated. That actually happened, don't ask.
We can actually imagine all the smiles and awws in the room as this was happening. Cute, adorable, precious. Not harrowing and terrifying like how our vets feel when we come with our cats for a visit. Yes, we're jealous of you and your cat, you're correct, don't judge us for it lol.
