When someone is harassing and bullying you at school, you can tell an adult. When someone is doing that to you at work, you go to the human resources department, aka HR. If HR is the bully… Then you can try telling your boss, but they hired HR so they didn't have to deal with that kind of stuff, so good luck!
Unfortunately, that is what happened to one employee that turned to Reddit to share her story. She does her job well and all of her coworkers, and even her boss and upper management, respect her and treat her like the productive employee she is. However, there is one colleague that didn't seem to get the memo that name-calling isn't cool anymore, and that is the company's very own HR person. This lady is 60 years old, a boomer, and I guess decided that she didn't have to take any updated harassment training course because she's been in the business so long. Perhaps she hasn't noticed that the political climate has massively changed and you can't say or do things that used to be accepted. For example, you can't tease someone that they are "dumb" because of their hair color.
This HR lady keeps calling this blonde employee a "dumb blonde" in front of everyone, even her boss. It visibly makes the employee uncomfortable, but she continues on. She didn't know who to turn to because normally you turn to your HR for uncomfortable things like this, but in this case, the bully is HR. So she turned to her boss who has witnessed HR multiple times call her a "dumb blonde."
Her boss, however, didn't seem to care and agreed that it was "obnoxious" but that the boomer HR lady was old and "set in her ways" so there was no dealing with the issues.
