“Our managers stole our Christmas gifts” Posted by u/ythemassman

Not only were people in the comment section just as enraged as OP, many shared similar stories of infuriating times bosses stole from them. Most redditors encouraged OP to tell the vendors directly that their generous gifts never got to their intended recipients.

“I told the vendors. I want to know if I should tell HR. WHAT WOULD THEY DO?” replied OP.

“HR is there to protect the company not you.” warned u/RacksDiciprine.

“Honestly I would tell the vendors. Say that their funds are being misappropriated and if they want to thank specific people to make sure they send them direct” said u/Unlikely-Trifle3125

“I wonder if the managers were asked to give them out, but did so only after management took ‘their cut.’ I have to believe this occurs often without ethical leadership and management in place.” said u/TraditionalSky5617.

“Not the same, but I worked at a car dealership where any ‘freebies,’ including gift cards, promotional rewards, and even branded clothing were to be given to the dept. manager who would in turn go to the dealership owner and give them to him to disburse at his discretion. The owner's logic was, 'It's my money that is spent doing business with the vendors, and therefore all of these rewards are mine.' This was literally a hill that he was willing to die on - accepting any promotional item could result in you being fired. I literally got written up for accepting a cheap-ass snapback ball cap branded with a vendor's name. Did this actually work out for the owner? No. All of the parts guys had a deal with our vendors that they should mail promo stuff to our homes. The vendors that wouldn't do this got FAR less business from us. None of us felt even a little bad. Owners and managers like this are greedy pieces of shit.” said u/TheOneTrueChuck.

“This happened at my first job. Granted it was a small store with only 7 employees. Corporate sent $1000 every Christmas for the manager to use to give out Christmas bonuses. Every year she gave herself a $1000 bonus. The only reason it ever came out is one of the company owners just happened to be passing through town and stopped in the store right at closing when we were getting ready to have our ‘employee pizza dinner Christmas party.’ He randomly asked if we got our bonuses early or if the manager gave them out at the party. She quit two days later. We never got a bonus.” said u/YouGuysKilledIt.
