The Mangalica pig was bred in the mid-19th century by a series of crossbreeds including the Romanian Salnta, the Hungarian Bakony and even the European wild boar. Though as you have seen here the truly special feature of this piglet is its thick, curly coat. The Mangalica's heyday was back in the 1950s when numbers were reported to be around 30,000 in Hungary but since then their numbers have tanked, reaching less than 200 in 1991. Thankfully in 2016, a project was initiated to revive their numbers and now there are approximately 60,000 piglets being born each year!
And what a fortuitous project it has been, because how sad would it have been to lose the little fluffers? Please be warned the piglets are incredibly cute, you may need to hold onto your chair.
Holy guacamole, look at the size of that pig! This cream-coloured Mangalica is like a furry little tank, ready to plow through anything in its path. With its curly fur and snout, it's like a walking cotton candy machine. Who needs a pet dog when you can have this fluffy behemoth by your side?
Look at the babies! We warned you they are incredibly cute and hopefully you heeded our warning and are currently still sitting atop your chair. If you are reading this from the floor then our commiserations to you.
