So you finally landed a job and you're excited to get started! You walk into that office with a mind hungry to learn and be the best employee you can be. But then BAM, reality gives you a nice little slap in the face and it turns out your boss is an entitled Karen who treats you like you are their puppet with no brain. So what do you do? Should you stay and give it a chance? People say not to judge off of first impressions. Or do people say first impressions mean everything, because if that is the case, then maybe you should run out those doors and never look back? What is the appropriate way to leave ASAP without burning any bridges?
That is exactly the question someone posted on Reddit recently. They're fresh out of college and landed their first job in marketing. However, it's only been two months and they are already miserable. They definitely intend on quitting, but they don't want to ruin any future career paths by doing so. What do they do?
Many professionals have come to debate the questions at hand. Should you stand up to your boss like these people suggest? Or should you stick it out? It's become quite the heated debate. Some say you have to pay your dues as a new person in the workforce, just like everybody else did and suffer through your first few years. While others argue that this is an antiquated and toxic way of thinking and that workplace culture has changed and you most definitely do not need to take any sort of workplace abuse.
