"I don't know why people argue this—only with cats too—like obviously if you see any domestic pet without any sign of ownership alone outside you should grab."
Avery, a woman on TikTok, recently posted how her dream finally came true. She always sees people posting videos online about how they found a stray kitty and it just approached them and now they are living happily together forever. She wanted that to happen to her so badly. Then one day it finally did! She was at work when she spotted a lonely cat roaming the parking lot. She went out and it approached her, as friendly as pie. She asked around if it was anybody's cat, and nobody claimed her. She was far from any neighborhood, with many large highways in between, and the weather was going to get below freezing that night. So she decided that she was going to take this little stray home. (Though the cat seemed to have already made that decision from the start because she would not leave her side after meeting.)
Unfortunately, many people were unsure or even upset that she took this baby off of the street. Many were worried that since it is so sweet and was immediately comfortable with a human that it must already have a loving family and that it is just an outdoor cat or a lost cat. People are leaving comments asking her if she just stole someone's cat off the street and many arguments have blown up since.
However, Avery makes sure to address everyone's concerns about the cat. She lets everyone know that she fully attends to adopt this cat if it is truly a stray. The cat is living with her and she is taking care of it, but she is also posting about a found cat everywhere she can. She also went to see if it was chipped (she is not) and is doing anything else she can to see if this is already someone's kitty.
However, she didn't even really have to explain herself, because the internet had her back. Many MANY people are very much against allowing domesticated cats outdoors at all, and many say if you see any domesticated animal alone outdoors, you should attempt to rescue it.
