Human body - r/Entitled People Posted by u/Jaderian Entitled teen thinks he should get a 6 figure salary to sweep floors.

Font - So I could write a never ending string of posts on all of the teenagers we have hired to assist around the shop. Most of them just end up cleaning the floors as they end up being useless but there are are a few gems among the rubbish. Than you find the turds.

Font - a round of interviews I just did with a bunch of teens and I couldn't believe what this kid said. He told me that he required a salary of $150,000 plus hazard pay if he has to go under a truck.

Font - This is the first time I ever laughed during an interview as I can usually hold it in till the applicant leaves. He was shocked that I laughed and even more shocked when I said and I quote "Sorry you won't be a good fit for this job. I wish you a good one and have a nice day," and ended the interview. He than proceeded to call me a greedy business owner and a slave driver. I didn't respond. This was the funniest interview I ever conducted.

Font - BonesJustice What was the actual role he thought he was applying for? You said most of the teenagers you hire "end up" sweeping the floors, insinuating it's because you don't trust them to do other things. Presumably he was not interviewing for a "floor sweep" position, so what was it?

Font - Jaderian OP He was applying for the mechanic helper position. Basically a glorified term for the guy that cleans the shop, runs for parts and assists the mechanics when needed. Many of those I hire we let go because we don't need a floor sweeper we need someone to learn and who wants to be an apprentice.

Font - BonesJustice If you want an apprentice, put out a listing for an apprentice. The applicants who actually want to be an apprentice probably aren't going to apply to be a "helper" since that sounds like a comparatively dead-end position.

Font - ailweni I saw a resume once where the applicant claimed it was illegal to pay someone with a Master's degree under $50k (2004 money).

Rectangle - Pretty_Winter_4693 As a young adult who wants livable wages, this is f king ridiculous. I this is why people s on my generation. They think we want this when all I want to do is have a place to live and not starve

Font - bonafidebob Kid just needs to wait about 50 years. By then an inflation adjusted minimum wage ($15/hour in CA) will be $75/hour or $150K/year full time. (Of course by then we'll have a 30 hour work week and five weeks holiday so it'll only be 1400 hours a year instead of 2000 for full time... so maybe give it 60 years. Oops, they'll have already retired!
