Rich Guy Sparks Debate by Making Poorer Girlfriend Split Expenses 50-50

The reasons that people have romantic problems are many. Sometimes partners cheat, or have a midlife crisis that makes them unbearable to be around. Other times, the issues are more mundane — but ultimately just as painful. Money doesn't just make the world go round, it's a vital topic in our relationships as well.

Few things cause arguments like the way we choose to spend and save, and things can get difficult when those in relationships earn vastly different amounts of money. One woman recently found this out the hard way when she turned to the internet for advice. Claiming that her boyfriend earned more than six times her salary but still expected them to split rent and expenses in half, Twitter users were divided over whether this was acceptable behavior. Budgeting is one of those boring things that has to be done in all live-in relationships, but not everyone agrees on how to do it.
