Working at a restaurant as a server on a busy night makes you rethink your life choices. Not only do you run about 15 miles back-and-fourth over the curse of the night, endlessly going from the hostess stand to the kitchen, but you're almost always treated poorly by the customers, the kitchen is raging with stress, and nobody is happy. To put it lightly, it's a war zone.
One depraved server experienced the worst of the worst one evening when his restaurant was not only slammed with giant groups of partying Marines, but he was also cursed with the pinnacle of restaurant nightmares: a Karen with a gluten allergy.
Now, having celiacs disease or actually being gluten intolerant is a serious health problem, however, Karen's everywhere have tarnished the credibility of people who actually suffer from this disease by being insufferable liars to service staff at the restaurant. Honestly, some Karens just want to feel like they're getting special treatment somehow.
According to the story, our OP storyteller said the restaurant was serving over 300 people with an 8 person staff, which would have been insanely chaotic and obvious to any customer with a brain that it's going to be a bumpy ride. After insisting that her 4 year old granddaughter suffered from an insane gluten allergy, the server told the Karen that she shouldn't be ordering a burger and fries because the fryer had breading/contamination. Because she wasn't actually celiac, the Karen didn't care of course. Sure enough, when the order finally came, after careful efforts to keep it from touching any breaded foods in the kitchen, the little girl dropped her bun-less burger on the ground immediately, to which the Karen demanded a replacement.
After rush ordering a bald, topping-less burger from a very angry kitchen, it arrived undercooked from the rush. The Karen immediately retaliated by physically assaulting her server, poking him strongly in the neck and chest, boasting her anger and flaunting her disgust over how their service went that night. Classy. For some reason, she felt obligated to poke her server in the chest over his efforts, but as they were on their way out of the restaurant, they ordered battered and fried fish as a to-go snack, which the allegedly "gluten free" granddaughter was enjoying happily.
