Weddings have an eloquent way of stirring up family drama and ruining bloodline relationships for the rest of your lives. Ironically, though marriages are supposed to bring people together, they somehow make everyone feral Bridezillas of epic proportions. That's why people elope. Elopements get rid of that cuckoo factor because it doesn't allow any of your family member to have sway over any decisions made in honor of your union. Your cousin's gluten allergy won't effect the food you eat at your elopement, but it sure as heck would cause a stink if you had a traditional wedding.
One butt-hurt man on Reddit completely missed the point when his brother got engaged and married without adequately informing him. In fact, it seems as if the brother did what he did on purpose just to avoid the searing, judgmental gaze of his sibling. Recently on AITA, a guy asked Redditors if he was being out of line after calling his brother 'selfish and inconsiderate' for throwing a last minute destination wedding. At first glance, you feel for the OP, but upon reading the details, he's grossly out of line.
OP's little brother got engaged to his girlfriend and, the next day, romantically booked a European 10 day cruise during which they planned to be married. The brother got upset because after extensive research, he learned that the cruise would not accommodate anyone from their family and nobody could attend… but that was obviously the point.
After the OP thoroughly chastised his little brother for not having the wedding that everyone expected, commenters pointed out exactly how deluded he was in thinking that he was invited in the first place. As it turns out, little bro still managed to make familial waves with his wedding despite his best efforts, all because his brother assumed too much.
