AITA: 'Someone has a second family': Gaslighting husband takes 3 week vacations with his ‘dear friend’, wife gets left behind and Redditors speculate an affair

Marriage is delicate. Once you have children it becomes difficult to balance your parenting, romantic relationship, as well as your social life and a lot of folks fumble with that last part. Although it's common for couples to try and have a social life with their friends outside of their marriage, it's certainly NOT common for a spouse to take off on long extended vacations multiple times a year, blowing off their wife and kids to hang out with a buddy. Especially if it really is just your buddy.

One woman on Reddit is facing a harsh reality this week after posting on r/AITA and asking if she's being unreasonable for questioning her man. For starters, he's described as the perfect father… until…

She mentions that he has a 'dear friend' who lives in a neighboring city and will, twice a month, go visit this friend for 2-3 days. That's already edging on the verge of being inappropriate, especially considering this friend never comes to their house to see the wife and kids. On top of that, the husband also has been on multiple longer vacations with his friend– one was even to Europe! –and the wife is beginning to miss having the father of her children around. 

On top of the next two 3 week vacations he has planned with his dear friend, OP's husband is also trying to get out of planning vacations with his own family. Redditors exploded with speculation that this guy has a double life, if not a second family. Could he have a secret lover? Does he have a second family? Is he secretly gay? It's time for OP to have a tough conversation and maybe have a lawyer present just in case.
